The flagship park of Brooklyn, Prospect Park features 585 scenic acres located about 1.4 miles away from Hotel LYN Brooklyn. Created in 1867 it was designed to give those who lived in the city the chance to experience nature and the outdoors. Following the success of New York City’s Grand Central Park, plans began to develop Prospect Park and when it opened it was considered a “work of art” by visitors. Today, Prospect Park offers something for everyone and is a family-friendly, pet-friendly park in the heart of Brooklyn. Key attractions of Prospect Park include Long Meadow (a stunning 90-acre meadow), the Picnic House (an event function facility), Prospect Park Zoo (a 120-year old zoo), a nature conservancy, the boathouse (with visitor’s center and Audubon Center), and Brooklyn’s only lake.
